Nello’s Mesa is family owned and operated for over 35 years and has been serving some of the best Pizza, Pasta, Salads, and Sandwiches in the valley.
We also offer a great selection of beer and wine! Nello’s Mesa is the only Nello’s location that is still owned and operated by one of the original founders of the Nello’s brand.
Nello’s Mesa is also known for creating a ‘home away from home spirit’ and friendly atmosphere. The owner and staff thrive on making their customers happy. On most evenings you can expect to see Nello’s original owner, Brian Mei, greeting people at the door or visiting customers at their tables. A watering hole for some and a second home for others, guests feel a strong sense of ownership and often participate in making others feel welcomed.
Grandpa Caesare a butcher, was raised in the tiny villa of Lucca, Italy where the recipe for Nello’s trademarked sausage originates. Papa Dante married Mama Cleone, and her name still graces our famous house dressing & marinade. Their two youngest boys, Geno and Brian, established Nello’s in Tempe with just four small tables where they made the dough each day by hand.
Geno’s experience and recipes from Chicago and Salt Lake City combined with Brian’s knack for befriending and remembering people’s names helped the restaurant excel. A couple years later, the two eldest boys joined the team: Danny an engineer from Utah and Ray, a builder from Chicago. Together they helped open four additional locations!
Our delicious, fresh, and made from scratch pizzas, salads, subs, and desserts is what has kept Nello’s Mesa unique. The one thing that Nello’s is really proud of is its golden light CRUST! It is our motto in ‘Crust we Trust’ and we wear it proudly on our shirts.
There is a tremendous amount of TLC that goes into our Thin and Original, white or wheat crusts.
